What must it have been like for Jesus as the darkness gathered around him on the cross? The first breach of his unbroken fellowship with the Father as he bore the world's sin?
I imagine him peering over the brink into a yawning abyss into which he knows he must descend ...
"... and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all." (Isa 53)

Yes, I was thinking "Haunting"
I was part of a team sharing meditations at a service this morning (Good Friday) and I had this image in mind when I said
"and at the last, as you gazed into the pit of hell,
you saw the forgiveness and life you had given away"
thanks for moving me Richard

We thinks about the brutal violence of the cross...but what spiritual torment Jesus must have felt at the thought of separation. Can we even imagine the utter horror and dispair of such a place. Thanks for emersing us in your imagination on the brink of such a place.
