Torn in Two ...

As a GenX church leader with a foot in two generations of the church I am torn between:
(1) the need to be anchored in the historic Christian faith and to learn from the older and wiser who've gone before
(2) the need to "get out of the box", dismantle the box and use the wood to build something new

I'm calling myself GenX as a convenient label, but I'm really a pilgrim at heart ... my life mission is ... to follow Jesus wherever it leads and whatever it costs ... and in the last 6 years this has taken me on a journey beyond anything I would ever have imagined.

Is anyone else in this position? i.e. you find yourself serving in a very traditional denomination of the church or some organisation, but there's a restless energy inside you that wants to break out and do something fresh and new?

When is Liquid Church no longer church?

What do you think about all this "Liquid Church" stuff?

'People are meeting in homes or with their friends or in the pub and saying that it is church. But is that enough? For us it has to be more than just fellowship. We want to see at least a commitment to the Trinity, the wider church and the sacraments.'

Welcome to Pilgrim's Progress ...

My journey is fundamentally about a search for God, for transcendence, for meaning, for significance, for connectedness. I look for inspiration all over ... in books, films, music, art and other people's lives and hope to bring some of that to this blog.

I reckon we all have questions and we're all searching for answers. My first question ... why start a weblog? I've kept a personal journal for almost 10 years ... it felt like time to share some of my journey and invite you to share some of yours.

Let's begin and see where it goes!
